Update.
I can't actually remember the last time I made a really thorough LJ update, so I thought I'd just write down a couple of things that have been on my mind a bit lately. I think I need a bit of a change from thinking in my head, so I'm going to try and do it on paper (or a computer screen, which I suppose is the modern equivalent)!

There are a couple of things that I really want to do, but I just don't have the money for!
I interviewed with this NZ fabric company who are opening a store in Sydney, and the woman I'm in contact with keeps saying "we'll ring you in a week" when I email her, but I assume they're extremely busy with the set up etc. and each time I ask she says "in a week". The thing is, this time it's been two weeks since the date when she said she'd ring me, and I want to email her again and check what's going on, but I'm afraid I'll seem impatient and pushy. Which I am, but I don't want her to know that, she's supposed to be considering me for a job!
So I want to buy an overlocker, and a bike, and a Mac (but that's a half/half with my parents) and tickets to the Great Escape, but all these things are $180 or over and my bank balance is currently at $25.
I'm doing a bit of babysitting (tomorrow and Tuesday) but it's only casual and I'm really starting to need regular money.
It's frustrating, especially since I've been looking for a job since November, and this is the only thing I can really see myself enjoying, and I worked myself up about this job, and now I'm being left in the dark.
As soon as I get a job I'll start paying board, but that's something I kinda WANT to do, especially since...

The electricity bill for my household this quarter is the highest it's ever been. The reason? Me!
Since I've started uni, I spend a lot of time in front of the TV or with the radio on, doing cut and paste or sewing projects. When I'm doing that sort of work, I like to have something on in the background, but since I have less time at uni than I did at school, I'm home a lot more, with the TV and radio on (and when it's rainy and cold and dark, the lights and heater too).
So I'm going to have to practice doing my work without background noise, because it really is wasting a lot of electricity!

On that note, since I'm home every day for lunch (except Thursdays and Fridays sometimes, when I go out for lunch with other people) I'm eating a lot more. And I'm having snacks at weird times, since food is always right there in the kitchen!
So I have to start watching what I eat again, because I'm getting ridiculously chubby. I remember being a size 10! They were good times.
I'm also thinking of taking the dogs for longer walks than just to the park, so I'm going to look up a couple of routes that might be nice; longer walks would mean I could go down to the bay, and I want to see if it's possible to walk along the bay for a while or if the shore is mostly private property.

My sister just got a new computer for her room, and we're going to install The Sims 2 on it again, which I'm really excited about because it's the only game I play and am actually good at! I love PlayStation but am crap at it, so I'm looking forward to getting to play The Sims again. (Although the only thing I really use it for is making the people, then building and decorating their houses; then I get bored with them and create a new family, and build and decorate THEIR house. And so on and so forth.)

I really want to go to a good house party. Clubs are too loud, I'm so un-hardcore it's not even funny. I just want to sit, chillax, kick back with a glass of wine and chat to people, and listen to good music and maybe play a game of cards or something. And maybe later some terrible dancing, who knows.
Angela, Katie and I were thinking of having a combined 19th birthday party, but I'm not sure if that's gonna work out cause there is some contention on a couple of points, like the guestlist, and the location... yeah, so, pretty major points! I really don't have a solution there.
I would also love to meet some new people (not because I'm lacking friendship, but because I expected to be meeting new people at uni all the time, when in reality I've only met a few, since it turns out I spend so little time on campus). So I think I need to get out and join clubs or something, and I'm in the film club but they meet Wednesday nights which is a pretty impractical night for me, at least on last semester's timetable. We'll see how it turns out when uni goes back.

That's all for now.
I hope everyone out there on the interwebs is doing just fine and dandy.

Aw sucks about the money thing. I know how you feel, I'm burning through the cash I've got left from the last job I had so fast. This online tutoring thing I applied for looks awesome though. Only problem is it uses a program that's probably not linux-compatible and my windows box is DED DED DED. So I gotta get my dad to dig up his ancient computer and swap out the harddrive because it will be slow but at least it won't FREEZE UP ON ME ALL THE GODDAMN TIME.

You know I joined film club because you and Henrietta were all like OMG JOIN FILM CLUB, and then neither of you showed up the first three weeks and it was awkward and lame (and wednesday nights aren't that great for me either) so I stopped going :P

The only thing I joined and did not completely fail to go to is TROUTS. The theatresports thing is so much fun! You should come along if you want to meet new people!

(Dude. I was just about to say you haven't posted in ages and then I realised that I just had you on completely the WRONG FILTER so none of your posts have been reaching my flist. LOL FAIL.)

Ohhh I would love to do tutoring. Although I wish you luck with the ancient computer, eh...

Sorry about film club. =P It looked so good, but argh Wednesdays.
... I hate drama, sorry. =P Love to WATCH it, hate to participate in it! I assume theatresports is where everyone gets up and has a go?
I'm doing lighting for that Signal Driver production, though.

Oh and if you really miss house parties you could come to Liza's birthday thing on saturday. There'd be a fair lot of SGHS people from the grade above us, IDK if you were friends with them much?

Wow, I didn't realise that paying board actually happened in Australia! /naive I thought it was a quaint British tradition and was glad I didn't have to. Well, not really, I mean, I can live with my parents for as long as practically possible but I'm supposed to fund their retirement, so perhaps its the same thing?

I want a cycling thingy in my house. Like, one that you can park in front of the tv and just ride while you watch. Yeah, it's the easy way out.

OOH. Beth, I think i MUST hold a party of some sort soon because I was blog-hopping and I found the most AWESOME theme for a party: DRESS HOW A CUPCAKE SHOULD FEEL! I would LOVE to dress like a cupcake, because I love cupcakes!

Anyway. Hope you're still enjoying your holiday!
x

Aha, well, my parents are funding their own retirement, thank god.
I know a lot of people who pay board! I just assumed everyone did eventually.

Haha ok well yeah, that SOUNDS like a good idea, but I bought a treadmill for that purpose and it is SO NOISY you can't hear the TV. Maybe if you get a really expensive one though it wouldn't completely block out the sound of the TV?

Oh my god you NEED to have that party! I want to dress like a cupcake! In fact I have the perfect dress. =)

Just chillaxing and trying to clean my room. Got some babysitting too, so it's not so bad! Good luck with exams, if you still have any left?
